Event Summary
This 3-hour introductory course provides a comprehensive overview of the natural gas transmission industry, designed for professionals who are new to the field or seeking to strengthen their foundational knowledge. Participants will follow the journey of natural gas “from the wellhead to the burner tip.” Topics include the structure of the natural gas industry, key physical and chemical properties of gas, exploration and production basics, pipeline systems, compressor stations, storage, and regulatory frameworks. Participants will gain insights into how transmission connects every sector of the natural gas value chain while balancing reliability, safety, regulation, and market dynamics.
Attendees will receive 3 Professional Development Hours (PDH) upon completion.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the four primary sectors of the natural gas industry (production, transmission, distribution, and marketing) and the unique role of transmission companies.
- Explain the key characteristics of natural gas
- Describe how natural gas is conditioned, transported through pipeline, and stored for reliability.
- Explain the design and function of transmission pipelines and compressor stations in maintaining pressure and flow.
- Recognize how natural gas transmission underpins residential, commercial, industrial and power generation demand.
