Changing natural gas’ state of matter changed the game for the energy industry. Liquified natural gas (LNG), a process discovered by Michael Faraday in 1820, is natural gas that has been cooled to a liquid state, decreasing its volume by about 600 times from its gaseous state. This allows us to safely ship and store natural gas to places pipelines cannot reach.
