Celebrating the Chair of SGA’s Storage Committee
SGA Natural Gas Association is proud to recognize Jacob Abraham of Williams as our July Chair of the Month. As Chair of the Storage Committee, Jacob has strengthened member engagement and advanced initiatives that directly impact the future of underground storage.
Working alongside the Vice Chair and 2nd Vice Chair, Jacob has continued the committee’s legacy of strong leadership while building momentum through clear communication and personal connections. His approach ensures the committee remains both collaborative and forward-looking.
A key accomplishment has been the creation of breakout subcommittees focused on Storage Regulatory Compliance, Well Construction & Maintenance, and Well Integrity Assessment Methodologies. Each group is working toward defined goals, giving members opportunities to contribute expertise and increasing the value of participation.
Jacob also led the development of a full schedule of underground storage sessions for the 2025 Operations Conference. These sessions are designed to address day-to-day challenges and provide members with insights they can apply directly in their roles.
Beyond committee initiatives, Jacob has been a driving force in joint-industry collaboration. He established a task force to analyze PHMSA’s Draft Final Rule on updates to API RP 1170/1171 and initiated a coordinated review among SGA, AGA, and INGAA. Under his leadership, the committee is building strategic partnerships with regulators and other associations to strengthen storage risk and integrity management.
These efforts are creating opportunities for SGA members to engage directly with regulators, collaborate across operators, and support the effective implementation of updated O&M requirements through both virtual and in-person forums.
Jacob’s leadership demonstrates how active committee involvement can deliver meaningful outcomes—not only for members, but for the entire natural gas industry.
