Attendees FAQ's

2020 NATURAL GAS CONNECT ACADEMY

ATTENDEE FAQ’S

1. WHAT IS A VIRTUAL EVENT?

2020 has been measurably impacted by the Coronavirus. Because our jobs and the need for learning from our peers doesn't stop because of a virus, SGA has pivoted to Natural Gas Connect –virtual academy.  Imagine taking in all the valuable and timely content you would normally receive at Natural Gas Connect from the comfort of your home or office.  As a virtual event the conference will replicate a ‘physical’ location-based event, but online. Members will be able to access the event and take advantage of the numerous sessions, keynotes, thought leadership presentations and technology updates and connecting with your peers, from their home or office.  All you need is a computer or mobile device and an internet connection.  Natural Gas Connect Academy is designed with you in mind.  SGA members will enjoy four keynote speakers, educational sessions, engagement activities, group chats, and small-group breakouts. The events provide a safe, open space for dialogue and discussions focused on various subject matters.

2. WHEN WILL I RECEIVE THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR ATTENDING THE VIRTUAL EVENT?

SGA is working diligently crafting this unique experience.  We will send you your unique login and the necessary instructions for accessing the event on July 8, 2020. Make sure the contact information and email address associated with your profile is up to date so there is no delay in receiving the communication.

If you are registering on the behalf of someone else, please ensure their email and contact information are used to ensure they receive their unique attendee access link for each session.

3. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND?

  • Member Price: $495
  • Non-Member Price: $795
  • Member Company Pricing: $10,000 for everyone within the company to attend.

If a company would like to participate, please contact: Member Services at memberservices@southerngas.org

4. DO I HAVE TO ATTEND THE ENTIRE EVENT?

Virtual events bring the experience of a face-to-face conference to your personal computer, so just like an in-person conference, you have the freedom to pick the sessions you attend. But, many say that attending the event in its entirety—the keynote, breakout, and closing sessions—will help you to get the most out of the experience. The sessions will also be on-demand in the campus library after the sessions conclude.  You have the ability to receive content in the manner that best fits your schedule.

5. HOW LONG IS THE VIRTUAL EVENT?

The online NGC Academy covers a 4-week period, from July 13 – August 6, 2020.  Sessions will be held live Monday – Thursday. Each will have a keynote speaker and various sessions throughout the day. You are encouraged to attend as many as you choose.  Be sure to check the agenda for detailed information, topics and speakers.

6. WHO CAN ATTEND?

Anyone can attend as long as they register.

7. WHAT DO YOU DO TO ENSURE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT?

To create a safe virtual environment, all registrants must agree to the Virtual Event Terms and Conditions to participate.  As well, each participant will be provided a unique access code to maintain the highest level of security.

8. WHAT SECURITY MEASURES ARE IN PLACE?

SGA has taken many measures to ensure the virtual platform and experience are compliant.  We are practicing the recommended security protocol and using a Platform that is designed for business.  LogMeIn’s collaboration products, such as GoToMeeting, have long been the leader for secure professional meetings for millions of users. SGA is working to make sure the experience is as secure and reliable as possible.  All GoTo platforms are developed in collaboration with the LogMeIn security team and are rescanned regularly for vulnerabilities. For each LogMeIn UCC solution, standards-based cryptography, a high-availability hosted service infrastructure and an intuitive user interface combine in order to maximize confidentiality, integrity and availability. With TLS encryption protecting sensitive chat, session, and control data transmitted across the network (distributed to all endpoints using up to v1.2 if supported), as well as encryption at rest using 256-bit AES for session cloud recordings, transcriptions and meeting notes, GoToMeeting ensures your company’s meetings and information stay confidential.

Moreover, the products make it easy to quickly start or join a meeting by enabling GoToMeeting to be launched from a browser. This communication between the platform and user’s computers is designed to ensure secure connections that are either installed with end-user consent or hosted on our secure and verified servers.

9. HOW ARE AGENDAS CHOSEN?

Virtual events are planned by and for SGA members! Each event is planned by a committee who are experts on functions within the industry.  Each session has a committee member serving as a session champion. Program agendas are developed by the committee members and volunteer engagement team.

10. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO ON THE DAY OF THE VIRTUAL EVENT?

Your log-in information and unique meeting access links will be sent to you as the event nears. Please make sure you pay close attention the SGA NGC Academy emails to ensure you receive instructions leading up to the event.

11. DO I HAVE ACCESS TO ALL OF THE EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS?

Yes! Similar to if you were attending the conference face-to-face, you will be given the opportunity to select which sessions you’d like to attend virtually.  In the virtual world you don’t have to miss a session because it conflicts with another.  You can watch it on demand.  This provides additional flexibility and access to content. The conference is designed so you  decide which sessions fit your agenda.  Pick a session of interest in a given time block and to attend those sessions as desired. You may attend as many or as few sessions as you want.

12. CAN I PICK BREAKOUT SESSIONS TO ATTEND?

A course catalog will be provided with all the sessions and speakers as well as links for easy navigation.  Please make sure you log in 15 minutes prior to the start time to ensure you get into the session. Sessions are first come first serve.

13. CAN I SHARE MY VIRTUAL CONFERENCE LOGIN INFORMATION WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF MY TEAM?

No.  Each paid registration is accessible on only one device (computer, laptop, tablet, phone). The credits earned, the questions asked, and the polling conducted within the single login session are all tied to the account of the individual that purchased the virtual event.  PDH hours are awarded based on attendance.

14. ARE THE RECORDINGS AVAILABLE AFTER THE EVENT?

Yes!  Your virtual conference registration includes access to all educational session recordings after the session concludes. The recordings will be in the Campus Library on the SGA website and will be available within 48 hours of the session.

15. HOW WILL I EARN AND RECEIVE CREDIT FOR PDH HOURS?

To earn credit for any educational session you attend, you will have to attend the session and fill out the survey at the conclusion of each session.

PDH certificates will be sent within 2 weeks of the conclusion of the session/NGC Academy.

Although you do not need a webcam to attend a virtual event, you are encouraged to use your webcam during the networking and breakout sessions to allow for a face-to-face experience with other attendees.

19. WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED FOR THE VIRTUAL EVENT?

A computer is preferred, and you can also call in from your phone. It is best if your computer has a webcam and microphone.

Please see question #16 for information on system requirements needed.
