Event Overview

Focusing on acquisition and routing, this session offers attendees detailed information on the legal, technical, and administrative aspects of acquiring, evaluating, and processing permits, easements and right-of-way documents. Gain in-depth knowledge and skills on the critical elements of gathering information regarding public and private constraints, preparing the franchise and right-of-way documents, and negotiation with landowners and other stakeholders. Cover critical issues on the calculation of value compensation, mapping, and survey requirement related to access.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Identify Right of Way (ROW) assets and their specific regulations for each. Understand the concept of “route selection” and how to develop and execute an effective route selection strategy. Acquire an understanding of the process and requirements of ROW acquisition. Learn methods and techniques for analyzing, budgeting, and managing ROW acquisition projects. Know and assess the various risks associated with ROW acquisition and how to mitigate them. Demonstrate the ability to negotiate, evaluate and finalize ROW contracts.

Attendees will qualify for 4 Professional Development Hours (PDH) upon completion.

 

 

 

Meet Your Instructors

Chad Jacobs – Northeast Oil & Gas Lead, HDR

With over 20 years of oil and gas industry experience, Chad is HDR’s Northeast Oil and Gas Region Lead and an experienced project manager who has worked on many oil and gas pipeline projects across the country. He has been involved in FERC linear projects, permitting for oil and gas projects, trenchless pipeline installations, and served as technical lead and owner’s engineer on civil, environmental, and construction projects from concept to closeout. In addition, he is skilled at identifying and delineating routing, design, and construction risk pertaining to oil and gas pipelines and their associated facilities.
Chad is a professional engineer in six states, and he has earned his Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) Envision Sustainability Professional designation.

Aimie Mims – Right-of-Way Director, Power & Energy, HDR

As Right of Way Director at HDR, Aimie Mims collaborates with industry leaders and technical teams to deliver right of way services for power and energy projects across the United States. Leveraging her 14 years in the industry, Aimie provides subject-matter expertise to keep right of way programs on schedule and in accord with acquisition standards.
Aimie is driven by her belief that right of way services matter and impact lives through infrastructure development. She helps teams secure necessary land rights to make successful projects possible by building and mediating client-landowner relationships fairly and respectfully.
Aimie has been an active voice in the International Right of Way Association, including her term as International President from 2019-2020.
