Natural gas is less carbon-intensive than the conventional fossil fuels it replaces. Renewable natural gas (RNG), produced from materials such as biowaste, is even better. In addition to emitting less greenhouse gases, the RNG production process also reduces the CH4 emissions from the organic waste used to produce it.
