SGA’s Engineer’s Week provides an excellent opportunity for engineers to receive valuable, industry specific training in only a few short days. Workshops are often combined during the week so that attendees can attend multiple classes to customize the experience.

Introduction to the Incident Command System – Webinar

September 10
2:30 to 3:30 pm CT

The Incident Command System is the nationwide standard for incident management.  This webinar will provide an overview of the ICS structure as well as insight into how pipeline operations employees can effectively use this system to enhance safety and accountability during response to emergency situations.   Further, recommendations will be made on how to work effectively with local public sector emergency responders who will use the Incident Command System at a pipeline emergency.

Beginning with Introduction to the Natural Gas Industry, new employees can get up to speed quickly with a broad overview of the industry. See below for a description of the class.  In addition to the Introduction class, participants then have the option of attending other classes that will assist them in their professional development.  Some workshops will be offered in parallel, so check schedules accordingly.

Information Integration to Enhance Pipeline Safety – Webinar Series

Part of the Safely Managing the Lifecycle of Pipelines Series
October 6 – November 17

This series of case studies is intended to promote discussion, learning and knowledge about requirements, functions and features of Information Integration Systems to Enhance Pipeline Safety. The series will consist of 6 sessions, each featuring a natural gas pipeline operator and their respective system supplier. The pipeline operator will describe their requirements and expectations of the system they selected. The corresponding supplier will describe the functions and features of the system that they supplied.

Web Based Training Modules Available

SGA has just launched their WBT courses for individuals to purchase through the Products page.  You can purchase the full Core WBT Library which includes 46 courses or individual libraries of courses for:

  • Introduction to the Natural Gas Industry
  • Introduction to Natural Gas Transmission
  • The Ratemaking Process
  • DOT Regulatory Compliance

You will also be able to purchase any of the 46 individual courses separately.  Prices for individual courses start at $25 for SGA Members and $50 for non-members with discounts for purchasing 10 or more.

The GMRC Gas Machinery Conference provides three days of technical training and papers presented by the industry’s leading subject matter experts.  The 2014 program will include 15 three hour short courses, 32 technical paper presentations and 17 new technology updates.  The conference includes a vendor exhibit with over 120 companies showcasing the latest equipment, technology and services.

Educational sessions and networking opportunities are valuable for design engineers, facility engineers, technicians and others, with an emphasis on the operation, maintenance and testing of gas compression machinery.
