Facilitating the Teaching-Learning Process (Train the Trainer) March 21-22, 2007 Hilton Center City Hotel and the Charlotte Convention Center Charlotte NC Sponsored by: Continuous Learning Committee Class size limited to 15 - register early! Scope: This workshop is designed for both the new and experienced classroom facilitator/trainer. We will discuss the technical, professional and personal competencies needed to be an effective facilitator, the benefits and liabilities of these competencies, and how to recognize your strength and weaknesses. How the learning environment, organization of the instructor and repletion of skills affecting the learning process will be covered. Communication skills are important and each attendee will be tasked with demonstrating their listening and questioning skills through a 15 minute standup presentation that will be video taped and critiqued by your peers. Check Out Activities: Your trainer will provide you with a list of incomplete statements and responses regarding facilitating the training process. Select the response which most correctly completes each statement (knowledge verification). Your trainer will provide you with a brief description outline of the 4 step teaching method. Prepare and present a short presentation using the 4 step method outlined in the workshop workbook. The checklist in this workbook will be used to evaluate the presentation (skill and ability verification). Who Should Attend: This workshop will provide the learner some basic skills and tools to help them become more effective when instructing or facilitating sessions at their companies. Those designated as trainers, as well as those who provide instruction in addition to their regular gas operations duties, will benefit. Instructor: Roger Wingate is the President of R. L. Wingate & Associates, Inc., a company which specializes in operational consulting and training for the natural gas industry. Mr. Wingate has over 42 years experience in the natural gas distribution business, which includes, but is not limited to, technical training, operations management and regulatory compliance consulting. After retiring from his position as an operations manager for Columbia Gas of Kentucky, he went on to join Industrial Training Services, Inc. as its Vice President of Client Services, where his technical and training expertise was called upon to help develop customized operator qualification plans, curriculum and testing. Mr. Wingate is a member of the Kentucky Gas Association's "Education Committee" and "Operator Qualification Committee" and a past member of its Board of Directors, who honored Mr. Wingate with both its "Outstanding Service Award" and "The Ernest Murphy Award for Training Excellence". Hotel Information: This workshop is being conducted in connection with the SGA Spring Gas Conference & Expo.
