Web Conferences - Frequently Asked Questions

What's a web conference?

An SGA web conference is an opportunity for participants to engage in critical conversations about relevant topics with industry thought leaders in those topics. The sessions are done entirely over the Internet. Presenters usually augment their talks with illustrations using Powerpoint slides and sometimes small movies. The audio is delivered via participant's computers using Voice over IP (VoIP). Participants may interact by means of audio discussion or text chat. Many participant companies set up the computer, audio and a projector in a conference room and have several people around the table. This arrangement promotes subsequent intra-company discussions.

SGA uses WebEx as its provider of web conference services. SGA affiliate CTN manages the technical aspects of the WebEx sessions.

What equipment/software/Internet do I need?

Not a lot.

A computer with a robust 'wired' high speed Internet connection running Windows and Internet Explorer. You can alternatively use a Mac. For audio interaction you will need a microphone connected to your computer. A headset works well if you are the only person at that computer. USB type headsets don't work well on Windows based computers.

Yes.
